The new building complex of the Pécs exhibition centre was built on an area of ten thousand square meters: half of it is occupied by the existing industrial buildings, and the other half is provided by its surroundings and a large new tent structure. According to the architects the building could also serve as a meeting point for the residents of the nearby Kertvárosi housing estate. The Exhibition Centre is an innovative and spectacular example of tent architecture, unique in Hungary. The problems arising from an inadequate business plan and from shortcomings of the construction have however evoked strict criticism among the citizens.
